As mentioned in my previous post I have been working hard for the last few months on the development of the next build of GP Power Tools.
Build 26 of GP Power Tools is already at release candidate stage and I am just working on getting the documentation for the User Guide manual updated and tweaking any issues found during beta testing.
This is the first really significant build for a while as the last few builds have primarily been fine turning the registration system for the move to direct distribution by Winthrop Development Consultants.
Build 26 has numerous fixes and enhancements as well as some totally new features. The beta testers have been trying out the new functionality and have been really excited about what is coming.
There is something for everyone included with enhancements to every module. Below is a quick taste of what to expect:
The Find a Window option is now available from the Tools menu on every window.
The Raise all windows option is now available from the Tools menu on every window.
ScreenShot’s System Status report now includes Modules Registered as well as a list of Customizations (as per Customization Maintenance) and a list of installed Visual Studio Addin DLLs.
Administrator Tools Module
Many features in Administrator Settings can now be controlled on a user and/or company basis.
Dex.ini Configuration can now open a Dex.ini settings file editor.
Additional Information can now be stored against a User including email address and six user defined fields.
Company Login Filter now supports custom user defined order for companies on the login window.
Window Position Memory now supports disabling Window Position Check for specific windows.
New Feature: Automatic Logout can log out inactive users and has many configurable options.
New Feature: User Activity Log can track user logins and daily maximum session counts.
New Feature: Login Limits can control how many sessions a user can log into.
Developer Tools Module
Runtime Execute, SQL Execute and .Net Execute can now control the users and/or companies a script is published to.
SQL Execute will now remember the database selection when running scripts against all databases.
Runtime Execute can now generate pass-through Dexterity sanScript for Visual C# and Visual Basic .Net.
Parameters can now be hidden to allow parameter substitution for data populated by code rather than the user.
Project Setup can now stop all triggers and has Add button for adding new components to a project.
Database Tools Module
Support for GP 2018 R2’s 21 character password.
Enhanced check for possible data loss now actually checks maximum length of source data.
Database Validation’s Password Reset functionality can now email the temporary password to users.
Look for the release announcement soon and further articles with more details of the changes. You can also look at Beat Bucher’s article:
