Yesterday afternoon, I was lucky enough to be able to attend a video meeting (using Microsoft Teams) for a presentation and Q & A session by an Australian University lecturer who has been using technology to improve the quality and engagement levels of his engineering courses.
Thanks to my Microsoft MVP Community Program Maanger, Shiva Ford, for organizing this session. While the topic of this article is education, just think how these concepts can be used to collaborate in the workplace as well.
Dr David Kellermann is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia and has shared the stage with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at the Microsoft Inspire conference in because of his exceptional work in using Microsoft Teams to encourage collaboration among his students, and establishing a learning community.

Dr Kellermann was especially requested by Satya to present at Inspire 2019, as well as meeting with him during Satya’s trip to Sydney in November 2018. Very recently, he was interviewed by Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer Panos Panay on this project –
This is an amazing use of the technology available to us and in his Q & A session with the Australian MVPs, David showed us even more than what is included in the video. For example: the use of Augment Reality cameras to bring a Material Tensile Strength Testing machine virtually and live into the lecture theatre so they could see if the calculations they had just performed in theory matched the practical test in real life.
I wish that my engineering units were like this back when I was at university.
