I came across this great video by one of my favourite YouTubers, Tom Scott, recently and thought I would share it with you. Tom’s videos are well researched, interesting and presented with a good sense of humour.
This one is specifically about an incident where he made a typo while working on a SQL database and his advice about how everything went wrong and how to ensure it does not in future is worth listening to.

For example: I once executed a delete statement on the GL Account Master table in a Dynamics GP system and forgot to highlight the where clause when I clicked the execute button. Instead of removing one account, it removed them all… on a live system that was in use at the time. I managed to very quickly cut and paste the records back from the test company database which was a very recent copy. But I can tell you my heart rate was accelerated.
