Today on 25th of April in Australia and New Zealand as well as many locations around the world, ANZAC day is being commemorated with dawn services and a day of remembrance. ANZAC day was originally set aside to honour the young men of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corp who served and died in the Great War of 1914-1918. The ANZAC soldiers served in many fields of combat during World War I but are mostly remembered for their actions on the Western Front in France and Gallipoli in Turkey.
Today, ANZAC day is a time to remember and give thanks to all members of the Australian and New Zealand armed forces who have served or are currently serving, The Ode of Remembrance (taken from the Laurence Binyon poem For The Fallen) is used during many of the ANZAC ceremonies,
Sadly, one era when Australia as a nation did not give our soldiers the respect they deserved was after the Vietnam war. Something which we strive to correct now. The most famous military action for ANZAC troops in Vietnam was the Battle of Long Tan which was accurately recreated in the 2019 movie Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan. If you get a chance to watch the movie, it is highly recommended.

Here is the movie tie in version of one of my favourite songs about the ANZAC soldiers who fought in Vietnam and the ongoing effects it has on those who return.
