I recently received feedback about Visual Studio Integration Toolkit complaining that the tool requires registration for each customer site it is being used at.
I wanted to take an opportunity to respond to the feedback with some history and facts about the product that will explain why it now requires registration.
Since the change from Menus for Visual Studio Tools to Visual Studio Integration Toolkit (VSIT) and more recently the release of Build 11 of Visual Studio Integration Toolkit, I have received some questions about how to include the VSIT code in the Visual Studio Tools Addin’s installer.
For the Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP developers out there, I am pleased to announce that the next build of the Visual Studio Integration Toolkit for Microsoft Dynamics GP (VSIT) is now available for download.
The Visual Studio Integration Toolkit was previously known as Menus for Visual Studio Tools (MVST), which was discontinued in October 2014. If you are still using the previous product, please upgrade to the supported product.

Winthrop Development Consultants are pleased to announce the release of the Visual Studio Integration Toolkit for Microsoft Dynamics GP (VSIT).
The Visual Studio Integration Toolkit replaces Menus for Visual Studio Tools and is now available for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 (including GP 2013 R2) and also for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015.
As previously mentioned on this blog, Winthrop Development Consultants has an agreement with Microsoft to continue the development and support of the Menus for Visual Studio Tools.
It will be re-released once it has been rebranded.
Following on from my other previous post Where is Menus for Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015? I can also confirm that Winthrop Development Consultants has negotiated an exclusive agreement with Microsoft to obtain the Menus for Visual Studio Tools source code.

This article follows on from the Where is the Support Debugging Tool for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015? post from yesterday.
Back in May 2008 I was at the Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Airlift in Fargo, ND, USA and was attending Developer Toolkit training run by Steve Gray. On the last day of the training I came up with an idea which would allow menu navigation entries to be dynamically created and called via an API exposed to Visual Studio Tools. Encouraged by Steve and Leslie Vail I turned the concept into a prototype by the end of the day. Menus for Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP was born.
