I spent this morning discussing a very interesting customisation with my good friend Mariano Gomez.  We had both seen a newsgroup posting asking if it was possible to add access to the Item Master’s record note from the Item Inquiry window using VBA. Mariano had told me that he wanted to see if he could do it and this morning sent me the first version of his code as a package.

Hybrid – Running a macro to automatically close GP Example

The following VBA example shows how a macro file can be started from VBA. This particular example will close Microsoft Dynamics GP when the Check Links window closes. As macros wait for background processes to complete, the macro will not start until the Check Links process and report have completed.

Hybrid – Clearing the Last User on a Terminal Server Example

Microsoft Dynamics GP remembers the last user to use the application and defaults the User ID into the login window next time the application is loaded.  This is useful when only a single user uses the specific workstation install.  In a Terminal Server or Citrix environment, multiple users use a single workstation install and so it would preferable if the User ID was left blank when the application launches.

Hybrid – Dynamically Populating a Modifier Added List Example

When using the Modifier to add a list field (drop down list, button drop down list, listbox, multi-select list box) to a window as a local field, the only option available to populate the list was to add static values.  This is because there is no functionality available in VBA to add items to a Dexterity list field.
