#VSIT Visual Studio Integration Toolkit build 19.1 released

David Meego - Click for blog homepageWinthrop Development Consultants is pleased to announce Build 19 of Visual Studio Integration Toolkit (VSIT) for Microsoft Dynamics GP was released on 19-Jan-2024.

This build includes enhancements to the new Custom Forms module along with improvements to the installer systems. The User Guide Manual has now grown to 95 pages, plus their code examples and sample project also provided.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: After the release of build 18 and with the aim of removing all builds with the security vulnerability, support for build 16 was discontinued at the end of 2023. Support for build 15 and earlier has already been discontinued. The final released build for each version of Microsoft Dynamics GP will not be discontinued. Sites running discontinued builds need to update before their subscriptions can be renewed. It is recommended that ALL sites update to the latest build to take advantage of the new features, enhancements and fixes.

Build 19 of Visual Studio Integration Toolkit is available for the following Microsoft Dynamics GP versions:

  • Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 and GP 2018 R2 (v18.0)
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP Modern Lifecycle (v18.2)
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP Modern Lifecycle (v18.3)
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP Modern Lifecycle (v18.4)
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP Modern Lifecycle (v18.5)
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP Modern Lifecycle (v18.6)

Installer Update

The Installer has been updated to stop it complaining about the DPM.exe running when the Dell Peripheral Manager is installed, as per the article below:

Custom Forms Module

Build 19 adds two new commands: FormRegisterReserve and FormRegisterReserveMaint. These commands are extensions of the FormRegister and FormRegisterMaint command but also allow a developer to specify their preferred Form Number. This means that if a developer has modified a specific custom form number, they can request the same form number again when registering the custom form on a new system.

We would suggest ISV developers use higher numbers (maximum is currently 10), while custom developers use the lower numbers. This will lower the risk of form numbers clashing and needing to manually edit package files and code to change form number.

Other Enhancements

For a detailed change log, look at the VSTMenus.txt file which is also installed with Visual Studio Integration Toolkit into the Microsoft Dynamics GP application folder. To see the updated documentation, look at the user guide which is also installed with the product.
