GPD Pocket 2 7″ Mini Laptop Windows 10 PC

You might have seen my posts on Twitter and Facebook recently about my new toy mini laptop PC, the crowd funded GPD Pocket 2.

I have been burnt before with crowd funded projects (I supported 3 smartwatches and only one make it to production and it under-delivered 😦 ), so I was wary of getting involved again. However, this was the second generation of the GPD Pocket and demo devices had already been delivered to a number of YouTube reviewers. I felt fairly safe to get involved with crowd funding again, as this would give me a discount and get the device earlier.

#Dexterity Improving Performance on Windows 10

I often work with multiple instances of Dexterity open at the same time and export & import resources or cut & paste code between the instances.

Once I have everything updated, I usually Compile All to make sure that all the code is compiled and that there are no compile time errors. Don’t want any of those pesky “FP: Script Not Found” errors you get if you have saved but not compiled a script.

PSA: Countdown to the end of free Windows 10 upgrade

Following on from my previous article: Upgrade to Windows 10 for free before time runs out, this is another reminder to make sure you take advantage of the free Windows 10 upgrade offer for users of Windows 7 and Windows 8 before it finishes on 29^th July 2016.

If you let the offer expire, upgrading to Windows 10 will incur a charge of US$119 for Windows 10 Home and US$199 for Windows 10 Pro.

Windows 10 was officially released on the 29^th July 2015, and when it was released users of Windows 7 and Windows 8 were offered a free upgrade to Windows 10.

The free upgrade offer lasts for one year and so will expire on 29^th July 2016. So this article is a reminder for everyone out there who has not upgraded yet to get a move on.

Thoughts on the new Microsoft Surface Book

On Thursday 12^th November 2015, the Microsoft Store in Sydney opened. Located at Westfield Sydney on the Pitt Street Mall, this is the first flagship Microsoft Store to be opened outside of North America and is a wonderful commitment to the Australian market.

Along with the opening of the store was the Australian launch of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book computers announced at the Microsoft Windows 10 Devices Briefing.

I have finally taken the plunge and updated my primary machine, a Surface Pro 3, to Windows 10.

I delayed the installation of Windows 10 for a little while primarily because I wanted to get GP Power Tools released and did not want anything to mess up my development environments.

Windows 10 is now here and starting to install on PCs that reserved their free upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

It is already the 29^th July 2015 in Australia and Windows 10 is almost here.

I know that because it is already downloading into a hidden C:\$Windows.~BT folder onto my machines.

More on Cortana for Windows 10

For those of you with Windows Phone 8.1 devices, you should now be comfortable working with Cortana, the personal digital assistant with attitude.

Well, Cortana is coming to Windows 10. In fact, if you have the latest Technical Preview of Windows 10 downloaded (as part of the Windows Insider program) you can already start playing with Cortana. Just make sure all the language and regional settings are set to US.

Windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones available

Overnight, Microsoft released the first build of Windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones to members of the Windows Insider Program.

Using the Windows Insider App on Windows Phone 8.1 you can register for the over the air updates. However, the update is not available to everyone yet as it has only been released for a subset of Lumia phones.
