This is a reposting of an article I originally wrote on my Developing for Dynamics GP blog.
It is that time of year again. The RoboCup Junior WA state championships have arrived for 2012. This year both my eldest son, Aaron, and my younger son, Rohan, are involved in teams with their friends from All Saints College.
Following on from Aaron’s success in 2010 and 2011, Aaron, Hayden and their robot “Jimmy”, together as Team Jimmy have again won the RoboCup Junior WA 2012 state chamionships for the Rescue Premier division.
Below are videos of Jimmy completing the two runs:

RoboCup Junior WA 2012 Rescue Premier State Champions – Run 2
Fantastic job Aaron and Hayden, even if you did leave it to the last minute and had a few really late nights. Well done to Team Them, also from All Saints College, which came second by the small margin of 10 points.
Rohan’s first foray into the RoboCup world has also met with success as Rohan, Asriel, Julian and their robots “Derp Face” and “Dribble”, together as Team 8 BIT JAR drew for first place to win the RoboCup Junior WA 2012 state chamionships for the Senior Dance division with the performance of 8 BIT Thriller.
Below is the video of the winning 8 BIT Thriller performance:

An awesome effort from Rohan, Asriel and Julian. I know Julian must have listened to that 8 bit version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller more times than anyone should have to. Well done to Team Boogie Man, also from All Saints College, who were the other team that drew for first place. Last year, Team Boogie Man came second in the national finals.
