Today (25-April-2015) is ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as Anzacs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day.
While I was originally born in London, England (yep, I’m a Pom*), everyone knows that I come from Australia. My family emigrated to Perth when I was 13 and I have had the operation to naturalise me as an Australian.
Probably due to my English background and the fact that accents in Perth are not strong, I don’t have a strong Australian accent (Not like Paul Hogan’s Crocodile Dundee character – watch trailer or Steve Irwin real character – watch trailer). However, I do use some different words and sometimes use Australian slang or abbreviations.

I heard from Leslie today that the surgery went well and she is now resting comfortably.
This is a shout out for my great friend Leslie Vail. Leslie is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for Microsoft Dynamics GP and has been a stalwart of the Microsoft Dynamics GP community for many years. She also known as the Dynamics Confessor on her Dynamics Confessions Blogspot.
Between you and me, she does not like it when I mention that she worked with Great Plains Accounting before Great Plains Dynamics 1.0 was even released. So don’t mention it to anyone.

After last week’s puzzle, I came across something a little harder that has been keeping people awake at night.
Singaporean high-school students were presented with this logic problem in the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad test paper last week. The test is aimed at the top 40 per cent of students in one of the most mathematically gifted countries in the world.
It has been many years since my BlackBox game got a mention and so I thought it was time to bring it up again.
I first wrote the game BlackBox for Dexterity in 1999 while I operated as Winthrop Dexterity Consultants. The game is based the original board game by Eric Solomon and was created with his kind permission.
Recently a puzzle has been doing the rounds on the Book of Face and I thought it would be good to test how quickly my readers could solve it. It is probably an oldie, but it is a goodie.
The puzzle is the Car Park Puzzle where you have to work out the missing number for the bay where the car is.

The Visual Studio Integration Toolkit replaces Menus for Visual Studio Tools and is now available for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 (including GP 2013 R2) and also for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015.
Have you ever written some cool Visual Studio Tools (VST) code that worked great on the desktop client, but does not work on the web client? VST code that does not use any WinForms or uses WinForms but only with supported controls and so should work?
Well, I have. A great example is the Company Login window customisations covered in the blog posts below:
The code worked fine on the desktop client, but had no effect in the web client. Something was missing, but I did not know what.
Convergence 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA has come to an end and it is now time to post the final wrap up.
I really enjoyed the social and networking aspects of the conference and loved presenting. It is also great to hear feedback from customers and partners about how the work done in the community (forums, blogs, etc.) is appreciated.
Some of you may know that while I was at Microsoft I volunteered for an internet safety program called ThinkUKnow.
ThinkUKnow in Australia is based on the UK Police’s Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre’s ThinkUKnow program in the UK.
In Australia, the ThinkUKnow program is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank. It is delivered in collaboration with the State and Territory Police and Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.

There has been lots happening over the last few days and I wanted to highlight a some of the news.

When I booked my flights for Convergence 2015 in Atlanta, I specifically added extra days after the conference so I could relax and spend time with Mariano and his family. Maybe we could do some sight seeing as business travel often fails to take in the sights around the city you have travelled to.
The last day of Convergence 2015 had arrived.
Today, we actually arrived at the conference center early enough to grab some breakfast in the Meals Hall before heading over to the Philips Arena for the Closing Keynote presentation.
